At the heir of the dog. At the far edge of town. See the neon is on but nobody around. No one taking any orders. No one drinking any drinks. Just a dog in the corner. Maybe I should leave. Who turned all the lights off? Who turned on the juke box? There’s a shadow I see movin over to me. So I reach for a glass and I pour me a drink. Devil in my right hand. Angel in the quicksand. There’s a shadow inside, wanna go for a ride. Try to run for the door but I don’t make it in time. Now the lights are back on, and the shadow is gone. I look at the dog. Hey, what’s in the beer? Says it don’t got no alcohol. I say none he says none at all. Then tell me what’s in here. He just scratches his ear. Stranger in a ghost town. I can get the first round. There’s a shadow I see crawlin over to me, So I reach for a glass and I pour me a drink. Devil in my right hand. Angel in the quicksand. There’s a shadow inside, wanna go for a ride. Try to run for the door but I don’t make it in time.

Slow Beast 03:06
Invitation to go out drinking, but I’ve been thinking that I should stay in. Doing good for a good while. Old man stay away from the Old Style. Better stick with the argyle. Keep the curtain closed. But I can feel the sun going down. I can feel the fun creeping all around. Something going on in my brain. Now I’m getting long in the fang. I can feel it all start to change. Oh, I got the yellow eyes. Oh, they’re soaking up the moonlight. Oh, the shadow side. Now I’m just along for the ride. I don’t know where the shadow will end. I don’t know where the human begins. 2am crawling out of the bar, and another ‘fore I head the den. I don’t know if I’ll make it that far. I can feel it all slowing down. I can feel that someone is creeping around. When they pull me out of the snow look at how the full moon glows right before the trunk door close.

Hello and Hi 03:13
Pink wax drippin down the stone. Candle between iron bars. White light in grey rock room. Too bright, too much, too soon. I’m all too familiar with this pain but unacquainted with these chains. Cuffs on each wrist, shackles on ankles, locks on all limbs, neck in a manacle. Someone is coming. Echoes of footsteps. And a creak of the door. Hello and hi is all way say. Me in my chains, you in the doorway. “I’m sorry I had to.” And you smile at me. I know and thank you. And you throw me the key. With the poison wearing off, my head feeling better, I can feel it all start to change. Why am I here? What is your name? I step in the light. You do the same. Where is your shadow? “It’s never been seen.” You say with a smile, there in the sunbeam.

Little Bite 04:01
All of the moonlit nights behind me. Nothing but sunny days ahead. You’ve been so kind to keep me company, keeping me chained up to the bed. Keeping your crossbow ready. Holding your arrow steady while you sip your coffee. I can feel the quarter turn. Don’t you wanna feel it too? I can feel it shining down. Don’t you wanna feel the moon? ‘Tween the shadows of the bars, shining down on my chains. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah! Maybe just a little nibble just so we can be uncivil. We can get lost in the moonlight. It’ll only cost you one bite. You can meet me by the forest. Listen for my howling chorus. Throw your key into the wind. Next time we can lock ourselves in. No more mornings feeling shitty. What did I do the night before? Never thought I’d be so happy to see my claw marks on the door. None of the blood on my fur. None of the shredded up shirts. No longer waking up hurt. You can try to calm me down, but I know you can feel it too. Try to hide behind the cloud, but don’t you want to feel the moon? Flicker of the candle flame. I am not the one to fear. It’s here. It’s here. It’s here! (howlin chorus)

Echoes 03:36
You know I can’t help you if you wanna go. If you wanna get lost go do it alone. Did I ever tell you how I got through? I never quit trying to make a change. Go when you want. You can be free. It’s all up to you. It’s not up to me. There is the door. Your chain’s on the ground. Get off the floor. Get you a round. Cycle repeats, keeping it fed. Out on the town, painting it red. Where is your plan? Where is your fight? What will it take to take back the night? Down in the forest, hunting for clues. A hundred aromas, none of them you. Down in the forest, looking for signs. Only see shadows, all of them mine. How can I fix this? Where did you go? can I come back? Do i still have a home? Go when you want. You can be free. It’s all up to you. It’s not up to me. There is the door. You don’t need a key. Get off the floor. Get you a drink. Cycle repeats, keeping it fed. Out on the town, painting it red. Where is your plan? Where is your fight? What will it take to take back the night? Down in the forest, calling your name. Only hear echoes. You never came.

I have been there before. I have been back and forth. Lost control, got it back, here I am. Push and pull, rise and fall. I was sick, of it all. Til another heard my call, got me through. Everyone makes mistakes. I have tried and I have failed. Many times, many nights, heard the wail. You can always try again. I will always be your friend. You are stronger than you know. I will take you down to show. Hold my hand and hear you say. Feel the shadow melt away. Feel the shadow melt away. Through the doors into the night, bracing for the other side. Open your eyes, now open your eyes. You will make it to the end, and I will always be your friend.
